Lafayette Field Hockey Primed To Host Patriot League Tournament

Nov. 4, 2002

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - With its 3-2 victory at Fairfield on Saturday, the Lafayette field hockey team finished the regular season 17-2 and a perfect 6-0 in conference play as the Leopards prepare to host the Patriot League Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Lafayette, the No. 1 seed, will play host to fourth-seeded Bucknell (7-11, 3-3) in Friday's first semifinal at 12 p.m. and No. 2-seed Holy Cross (9-9, 4-2) will meet the third seed, American (8-9, 4-2), at 2 p.m. at Rappolt Field on the College's Metzgar Athletic Campus.

Lafayette last hosted the Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament in 1999, and this marks the first time the turf at Rappolt Field will be used in a postseason field hockey tournament.

The winners of each semifinal will advance to the Patriot League Championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

There is no admission fee for Friday's semifinal games. Admission for Saturday's championship game is $5, and all students get in free with an ID.

The 2002 Championship game winner will advance to a CCA Play-In game against the NorPac Conference championship winner for a berth into the NCAA Field Hockey Championship, which begins with opening round play on Nov. 16. The NorPac champion will host the play-in on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002
