BOSTON, Mass. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's indoor track and field team returned home with three top ten finishes at the Eastern ECAC Championships this weekend at Boston's Reggie Lewis Center.
The 4x800m relay team of seniors Deborah Fink and Kate Evangelista, junior Meghan Baker, along with sophomore anchor Brittany Waldron finished tenth (9:13.89). Fink and Baker also competed in the individual events, turning in ninth and 12th place outings, respectively. Fink, the 2006 Indoor Patriot League Champion in the 500m event, finished the same event. Her 1:15.15 run set a new personal best for the veteran.
Competing in her third ECAC Championships, Baker came in 12th in the 800m with a 2:12.45 mark, breaking her own school record in the event. As far as distance events for the women, sophomore Katie Schultes took 20th in the 5000m (17:42.53).
In the field, sophomore Ashley Harbin hit a new personal record with a 55'3" heave in the women's 20 lb. weight throw. The mark earned her ninth overall and qualified her for Sunday's eastern final.
