Fugett Selected as Patriot League Pitcher Of The Week

March 27, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - Senior lefthander John Fugett (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) has been named the Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 25.

Fugett did not a allow a hit in two relief appearances during the reporting week. The history major earned his second victory of the season on March 21 at Penn. He was called on in the ninth to preserve a 1-1 tie, and he retired the Quakers in order to send the game to extra innings. Lafayette pushed across a run in the top of the 10th and Fugett did his job in the bottom of the inning, again sending Penn down in order for the 2-1 triumph.

On the weekend, Fugett pitched three scoreless innings at Long Island. He struck out two and did not allow a hit in a 12-inning affair that left him with a no-decision.

Fugett has a 2-0 record with a 6.00 ERA in seven appearances. He has not given up a hit in his last three outings.

Lafayette played Villanova on Tuesday and will travel to Wagner on Thursday for a 3 p.m. start. Lafayette and Army will begin Patriot League play this weekend with a four-game series at Hilton Rahn Field at the Class of 1978 Stadium.
