EASTON, Pa - Four recent members of the Lafayette Nine are continuing their baseball careers post-graduation:
Michael Zarrillo '25,
Adam Bogosian '24,
Joey Pence '24 and
Joe Skapinetz '25.
Zarrillo, who set the Lafayette career home run record with 24 and was a two-time All-Patriot League selection, is playing for the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League. The Atlanta, Ga. native has played in 24 games and is batting .241 with two home runs and 17 RBIs.
During his time on College Hill, Bogosian was an Academic All-Patriot League selection, playing in 57 games and striking out 97 batters. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native started his professional career in the MLB Draft League in 2024 with the Trenton Thunder, recording a 1-0 mark in 20.0 innings pitched. In 2025, Bogosian is playing for the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League. He has appeared in 21 contests, working 34.1 innings and posting a 2-0 record with 27 strikeouts.
Pence appeared in 46 games for Lafayette over four seasons, working 70.0 innings and striking out 59 batters. The Mount Laurel, N.J. native joined the Polish National Team in June for Prague Baseball Week, pitching two-thirds of an inning and recording a save in a 6-5 win over Slovakia. Pence also recorded the final two outs of Poland's 11-1 win over Lithuania.
Skapinetz, a 2025 All-Patriot League Second-Team selection, has spent his summer playing for the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League. The Computer Science degree holder finished his Lafayette career ranked third all-time in single-season strikeouts with 79. As a member of the Hawks, the Far Hills, N.J. native has compiled a 3-0 record in five appearances with a 5.64 ERA, totaling 17 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work.
Zarrillo, Bogosian, Pence and Skapinetz join 56 other Lafayette graduates who have gone on to play professional baseball after donning the Maroon and White, including four active players. JP Woodward is playing in the Mexican League for the Guerreros de Oaxaca, Justin Johnson is in AA ball with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (a Kansas City Royals affiliate), Jake Bloss made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2024 and is now playing for the Buffalo Bison in the Toronto Blue Jays organization and David Bednar is in his seventh MLB season, now playing for the New York Yankees after spending time with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Diego Padres.Bednar was selected to the MLB All-Star Game in 2022 and 2023, along with being the National League leader in saves in 2023.
