Second Half Struggle

Easton, Pa. - Lafayette took on Ivy League competitor Columbia Wednesday night at Rappolt Field. The game marks the 10th time the Leopards and the Lions have met. The teams tie the series at 5-5, and the Leopards fell for the second year in a row, 4-1 against the Lions.

Lafayette scored their only goal midway through the first half. Off a penalty corner Amanda Saber found Deanna DiCroce who scored her seventh goal of the season. The remainder of the first half was a defensive battle between the Leopards and the Lions. Lafayette went into halftime 1-0.

The second half started with a new Columbia who came out on the field and took advantage of the second half. The Lions were able to score off four of their six penalty corners of the half. The first coming from junior Julia Garrison, assisted by Christine Buszczak. Three minutes later sophomore Leti Freaney found the back of the cage for Columbia's second goal.

The Lions found the back of the goal two more times before the end of the game. Sophomore Carson Christus and freshman Katie DeSandis each scored one goal.

Lafayette continues league play when the team hosts Holy Cross Saturday at noon. On Sunday the Leopards head on the road to take on non-conference opponent West Chester at noon.
