BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Fresh off their sweeps of Lehigh, both the men's and women's track and field team posted several outstanding performances at the Coach P. Open held at Moravian College this weekend.
On a blustery Saturday morning, senior Seamas McGuire posted another outstanding performance in the javelin with a winning throw of 209'4. McGuire broke his own facility record.
Junior Matt Crystal posted a victory in the discus with a throw of 146'2". Crystal also finished second in the hammer throw with a personal best of 160'9".
Senior Sifiso Takirambudde was the third Lafayette student-athlete to earn a win, posting a time of 15.05 in the 110m hurdles.
The Leopards also had six runner-up finishes. Senior Allison Tether had a season's best in the javelin with a throw of 126'4" to finish second. Teammates Liz Graybill in the hammer (144'5") and Erika Stasakova in the 5000m run (18:59.20) also earned second place finishes.
On the men's side, senior Kyle Clayton posted a second place finish in the 200m (21.81) while pole vaulters Nick Henderson and Michael Thompson tied for second at 14' 5 ¼".
Senior Connor McGee finished third in two events: the shot put (47' ¼") and the hammer throw (160' 5").
Freshman Julissa Muschlitz ran a personal best in the 1500m (4:58.97) to earn a third place finish while the women's 4 x 100m relay of Megan Matusky, Jill Dozier, Kyara Gray and Kelly Clyde placed third at 50.47.
The Leopards return to Moravian College on Saturday for the Greyhound Invitational. Other teams expected to compete are Temple University, Monmouth University and Cornell.
