EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette field hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 6 Penn State Tuesday night at Rappolt Field. The Nittany Lions (10-3) rode five first half goals to victory, scoring three times in the first 15 minutes of action.

At the 4:04 mark, Casey McCartin collected a loose ball inside the circle and fired a shot past Leopards' goalkeeper Jessica Deutsch, giving PSU a 1-0 advantage. Nittany Lion's leading scorer Kelsey Amy then made her mark on the game offensively, finding the back of the cage twice in a three minute span. Her first tally came at 12:58 following a corner which was inserted by Whitney Reddig.

Ashtin Klinger made the score 4-0, 27:22 into the half, beating Mara Kish after an initial save on Taylor Herold's shot. Kish relieved Deutsch in the Lafayette cage after Penn State took the 3-0 lead. The junior netminder totaled five saves in the contest.

Less than two minutes later, Reddig added a goal of her own, giving the visitors a 5-0 lead to take into the break. Kish kept the deficit at five, making a sprawling save on Lauren Purvis at the 33:38 point, then forced her to hit the post on her rebound attempt.

Penn State added another goal late in the second half and held the Leopards to four shots in the contest. The Maroon and White did earn eight penalty corners, compared to four from the Nittany Lions.

Ayla Halus earned the win in goal for PSU, making one save in 35 minutes in the cage.
