EASTON, Pa - Another outstanding defensive performance from the Lafayette field hockey team ensured its 10^th straight win, this time over Rutgers, on Sunday afternoon.

Not allowing a shot on goal until 17:21 remaining in the contest, sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Deutsch and the defensive unit completed its second straight 2-0 shutout victory. Deutsch recorded three saves on the day and Rutgers was only able to manage three shots on goal.

"I was really pleased with recording two shutouts over the weekend," head coach Andrew Griffiths said. "I think it says a lot about our defensive toughness."

Senior co-captain Deanna DiCroce and junior Haley Keenan notched the markers for the Leopard offense, both coming in the first half of play. The win moves Lafayette to 12-1 on the season, sitting 3-0 in the Patriot League.

"Today, we moved the ball really well and played a much more complete game than yesterday (versus Bucknell)," Griffiths added. "I felt really good about our skills on the ball and our ball movement. I think we looked dangerous throughout the game and I'm really pleased with the weekend overall."

Just five minutes into the contest, Keenan was in perfect position to deflect a corner shot from sophomore Jenna Seybert past Rutgers' Sarah Stuby to put the Leopards on top early, 1-0.

11 minutes later, DiCroce was able to knock down and corral a cross in the middle. After her first shot was saved, she kept at it and was able to punch the rebound into the back of the net to extend the lead to its final tally of 2-0.

Next up for the 14^th-ranked Leopards is a trip to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross on Saturday at 12 p.m.
