Easton, Pa. - The Leopards fell to visiting Bucknell, 2-1, in Lafayette's Patriot League home opener. The Maroon and White dropped to 4-7, 1-1 in the League, while the Bison improved to 6-4, 3-0 in conference play.

"We didn't start strong enough, and Bucknell came out strong early." Coach Jennifer Stone said. "It was an uphill battle from the start."

Bucknell came out flying opening the scoring just over three minutes into the game. Liz Wills collected a loose ball in the circle after a penalty corner and fired it into the Lafayette net. Less than two minutes later Rachel Misko found the ball on the left side and shot past Jessica Deutsch into the open net to double the Bison lead.

The Leopards controlled play in the second half, outshooting the Bison, 4-2, and they also held a 2-1 advantage in penalty corners. Lafayette finally broke through and cut the Bucknell lead to one with six minutes to play. Kelsey Gula deflected a Jenna Seybert shot off a penalty corner in the 63^rd minute. The Maroon and White continued to pressure the Bison, but they were unable to tie the score.

Lafayette outshot Bucknell 10-6 in the game, with five shots on goal. The Leopards also held a 7-4 advantage on penalty corners. Deutsch made two saves in the loss, while Erica Perrine made four saves to earn her sixth win of the season.

The Maroon and White travel to Washington, D.C. on October 12, to take on American at 11 a.m. The Leopards next home game will be October 19, when they host Holy Cross for Senior Day.
