Lewisburg, Pa. - Lafayette fell to Bucknell 2-1 on the road in Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon. Katelyn Arnold made four saves for the Leopards in the loss.
The Maroon and White moved to 1-4 in Patriot League play, while Bucknell improved to 4-0. The Bison held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in penalty corners.
Lafayette got on the board first as Rosie Shanks found Kelsey Mead on the right side for the senior's fifth goal of the season at the 9:38 mark. The Leopards almost struck again a minute later as Brittany Blass fired a shot off a penalty corner, but her effort was stopped by Bucknell.
Arnold came up with the first of her four saves in the 15th minute, stopping a shot from Bucknell's Liz Wills from the top of the circle. The Leopards maintained the 1-0 lead for the rest of the half.
The Bison threatened early in the second half with a penalty corner, but the Leopard defense was able to clear the danger. Bucknell was on the attack again in the 47th minute, but Arnold was able to stop the Bison attempt.
Bucknell tied the score on a penalty stroke off the stick of Kayla Sullivan in the 52nd minute. Two minutes later the Bison took their first lead of the game as Kiersten Sydnor finished pass from Abby Watson.
On the final play of the game, the Leopards earned a penalty corner, but Jenna Seybert's shot was blocked by Bucknell, as the Bison held on for a 2-1 win.
The Leopards are back in action next weekend when they host Lehigh on Oct. 25th.
