Hamden, Conn. - Lafayette erased a 2-0 deficit in the final five minutes of regulation and completed the comeback in overtime on senior Brittany Blass's first goal of the season. Freshman Rosie Shanks tallied the first two for the Leopards who moved to 2-0 on the season.

"Anytime you play back-to-back games you know it is going to be tough," Coach Jennifer Stone said after the win, "The games this weekend showed the poise and determination from the team. I'm really pleased with the group for walking away with two road results on opening weekend against two top opponents."

In the extra session, the Leopards threatened right away with multiple shots that Quinnipiac was able to keep out. Finally in the 82nd minute Blass took the ball at midfield, beat a defender and then was fouled. The senior took the restart quickly and found space from 20 feet out to fire the shot into the bottom right corner to win the game for the Leopards, 3-2.

The Leopards had their chances in the first half as Quinnipiac's goalkeeper was up to the task on multiple occasions. Lafayette's best chance came off a penalty corner in the 21st minute. Jenna Seybert's shot off of the corner was saved, but Blass followed up with another chance that was turned away again by the Bobcats.

Quinnipiac got on the board first, late in the first half in transition. Danielle Allan took a centering feed and fired past Lafayette's Jessica Deutsch. The Leopards got the first chance of the second frame on back-to-back penalty corners, but they were not able to convert. Quinnipiac took advantage of a penalty corner in the 57th minute to double its lead to 2-0. Deutsch made the original save, but Allan was there for the Bobcats again to finish off the rebound.

Less than ten minutes later Lafayette cut the deficit to one on Shanks first collegiate goal. The freshman took a pass from classmate Ellen Colbourne and beat the Quinnipiac keeper. The Leopards continue to look dangerous over the final five minutes, and final broke through again. The Maroon and White earned a penalty corner as time expired and took full advantage. Kendall Weedling's shot was saved, but Shanks was there to hammer home the rebound and send the game to overtime. That was where Blass broke the deadlock to move the Leopards to 2-0 this season.

Deutsch improved to 2-0 making three saves in the win, while Quinnipiac's Megan Conaboy made 10 saves in the loss. The Leopards held an advantage in both shots, 22-13, including 7-0 in the extra session, and penalty corners, 7-5.

Lafayette is back in action Friday afternoon against Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J. at 4 p.m.
