FULL RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- A top-five finish in the shot put and weight throw for junior Dave McGriff and senior Patrick Corcoran highlighted an eventful weekend for the Lafayette track & field team at the Fast Times Meet at Lehigh.
McGriff, who is coming off a NCAA Regionals appearance during the 2016 outdoor season, resumed action this weekend and placed third in the shot put (49' 10"). Corcoran followed that up with a fifth-place throw (46' 0 3/4). The two returned for the weight throw where Corcoran had the best throw of the day (53' 8 1/4"). McGriff also shined in the event, placing third (52' 4 1/4").
For the women, Laura Oh finished in third (39' 3 1/4") in the shot put out of 18 total throwers.
The men's and women's teams both had strong showings, piecing together top times in several races. Tyler Hubeny's time of 8.80 in the 60m hurdles was good for a fourth-place finish. In the 60m hurdles on the women's side, Dina Naphor placed third at 9.36, while Tessa Broholm finished 6th (9.58).
Naphor once again placed in the top 10 after tying for sixth with fellow teammate, Mara Blanchard in the 60 at 8.11 in a field of 43 runners. Kelly Reager highlighted the 1000 while pacing the Leopards at 3:06.85, which was good for second.
For the men in the 500, it was Brendan Carroll's time of 1:07.83 that helped capture a fourth-place finish. Meanwhile, teammate Thomas Strand was the sixth runner to cross at 1:08.12.
Five different men's jumpers placed in the top five for the Maroon and White. In the long jump, Steve Young jumped 21' 6 3/4" for a fourth-place showing out of 19 jumpers. In the high jump, it was Matt Beck finishing second (6' 2 3/4") and Brendan Doyle finishing one spot behind (6' 0 3/4").
The afternoon was capped off with a Michael Thorne third-place showing in the pole vault (14' 11").
The Leopards will have a little less than a month off until returning to action at the Rutgers Invitational from Jan. 6-7 in Piscataway, N.J.
