JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dave McGriff concluded Lafayette's outdoor track & field season by competing in the NCAA East Preliminary Championship on Friday afternoon.

The sophomore thrower participated in the discus, finishing 43rd in the region with a top throw of 152' 8". Friday's competition ends a season which saw the Flemington, N.J., native set a new school record in the discus in March before claiming the Leopards' first individual men's Patriot League Championship since 2012 on May 7.

Akron junior Phillip Jagers took first place with a top throw of 205' 9". Jagers and the rest of the top 12 finishers advance to the NCAA National Championship meet held June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
