Penn Relay Results | Lehigh Games Results

BEHTLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette men's and women's track & field team claimed four events at the Lehigh Games on Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Track and Field Complex, while also competing at the 123rd annual Penn Relays on Friday.

Dave McGriff pieced together a solid showing at the Penn Relays, capturing fourth in the discus with a throw of 171' 1". The junior was just one of four throwers to eclipse the 171' mark. He also finished with the 38th-best throw in the shot put with a distance of 46' 9.5".

Wrapping up the Penn Relays was the women's 4x400m relay group of Kelly Reager, Tessa Broholm, Crosby Spiess and Amy Hewlett, placing 49th with a time of 3:55.99.

The Leopards returned to action on Saturday at the Lehigh Games, where Drew Davis highlighted the afternoon as one of several Leopards with a first-place showing. In a field of 44 runners, the senior finished with the top time of 25.11 in the 200m.

Davis would also go on to help the women's 4x100m relay team that consisted of Charlotte Gacek, Broholm and Mara Blanchard claim the top spot with a time of 48.24.

For the men, the Leopards took two field events, highlighted by McGriff's season-best throw in the discus at 172' 11 3/4", which was the best at the meet. Steven Young also had a first-place finish, clearing the bar at 22' 7 3/4" in the long jump.

Lafayette went on to grab nine top-five finishes at the meet, including Michael Thorne's second-place showing in the pole vault after clearing at 14' 5 1/4". Jumpers Matt Beck (6' 2 3/4") in the high jump and Marcus Vilme (43' 3 3/4") in the triple jump finished third and fifth, respectively.

Mark DiPaola finished fourth in the 5000m with his time of 16:32.26, while Pat Corcoran's distance of 179' 3 1/2" in the hammer was good for fourth.

For the women, Jennifer Salvatore started things off in the 5000m by finishing fourth after crossing at 19:25.50. Morgan Nobles (12:33.69) and Mikayla Pacilio (13:10.97) placed second and fourth, respectively in the steeplechase, while Broholm closed out the afternoon with a third-place finish in the 400m at 59.56 in a field of 35 runners.

The Leopards will resume action next weekend when they take part in the Patriot League Championships that are scheduled to start on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
