HAMPDEN, Mass. - The Lafayette Men's golf team saved its best round for last as they wrapped up a third place performance at the UConn Invitational at Par-72 Greathorse.
The Leopards completed the three-day event with an even 900 (301-302-297) team score. Three of the squad's golfers finished in the top-20 led by freshman
Ryan Tall and sophomore
Brendan Cronin as part of a five-way tie for 10th at +7. Sophomore
Cole Berger finished in a tie for 17th at +10.
Cronin, the reigning Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Month, shot a 1-under 71 on the final day to help Lafayette finish in sole possession of third place - one shot ahead of a charging Siena squad. Host Connecticut won the event at 883, nine shots in front of runnerup Hartford.
On October 16, the Leopards will attempt to defend their President's Cup title over rival Lehigh when the two teams tangle at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J. Lafayette defeated the Mountain Hawks 9.5 to 6.5 in the 2017 Ryder Cup style event.
