EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette athletics kicked off its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Tuesday afternoon, unveiling a pair of women up for the Charles L. Albert '08 Award. The nominees include field hockey's Ellen Colbourne and softball's Samantha Sweigart.
The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will take place on Thursday, May 17, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented to one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.
The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.
The male nominees for the Albert Award, as well as the male and female nominees for the Class of 1913 Trophy, will continue to be released throughout this week, leading up to next week's event. Information on the 2018 female nominees for the Albert Award can be found below.
Ellen Colbourne, Field Hockey: Economics and International Affairs major...started every game of her career...served as a team captain in 2017 and was a unanimous selection to the All-Patriot League First Team...scored three goals and added five assists, leading the team in both assists and points...named NFHCA All-Mideast Second Team and an alternate for the NFHCA Division I Senior Game...won the team's Iron Leopard award and was selected as Lafayette's Outstanding Athlete by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women...took home All-Patriot League Second-Team honors in both her sophomore and junior seasons...was a two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week in her freshman campaign...a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and earned Dean's List laurels twice...is an active member in Athlete Ally, as well as a tour guide and office worker with Admissions and an active member of the Oaks Leadership Academy, attending the United States Naval Academy Leadership Conference in 2017 and 2018.
Samantha Sweigart, Softball: Government and Law major...broke the Lafayette and Patriot League single-season and career hit-by-pitch records with 20 in 2018...led the team in doubles with 10....264 career batting average with 169 starts, 70 runs scored, 128 hits, 29 doubles, three triples and four homeruns...took 46 walks and was hit by 37 pitches over her four seasons, while also stealing 26 bases and turning 23 double plays with a .978 fielding percentage.
