Female Nominees Named for Class of 1913 Trophy

EASTON, Pa. --
Lafayette athletics continued its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Wednesday afternoon, releasing a trio of women up for the Class of 1913 Trophy. The nominees include field hockey's Meg Lillis, women's lacrosse's Dana Smith and volleyball's Tori Smith.

The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will take place on Thursday, May 17, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented to one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.

The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.

The male nominees for the Albert Award and the Class of 1913 Trophy will be released throughout this week, leading up to next week's event. Information on the 2018 female nominees for the 1913 Trophy can be found below.

Meg Lillis, Field Hockey: Economics and Government & Law major with a 3.72 GPAÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll all four yearsÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦was a team leader for Alternative School Breaks for a volunteer trip at Everglades and Biscayne National ParksÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦participated in Alternative Breaks' Citizenship School at the Grand CanyonÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦was a team member of a sea turtle conservation trip in Costa RicaÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦serves as a board member for Athletes C.A.R.E. and was active in the Hoops High Road initiativeÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦served on the board for Lafayette Women in BusinessÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦won the team's Unsung Hero award for the 2017 season.

Dana Smith, Women's Lacrosse: Mathematics-Economics and International Affairs major with a 3.98 GPAÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦winner of the Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in 2017ÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in 2017 and 2018ÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦was a four-year starter and a team captain in her senior seasonÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦active member of the Oaks Leadership Academy and served on the team's Leadership Council since her freshman yearÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor RollÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the WeekÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦anchored a defensive unit that finished fourth in the Patriot League in caused turnovers per game at 9.13 per contestÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦led the team in caused turnovers with 21 and finished eighth in the conference in ground balls with 2.44 per outingÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦active in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society, the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, the Sigma Iota Rho International Affairs Honor Society and the Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honor SocietyÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦was a Marquis ScholarÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦served as a SI Instructor in Intermediate Macroeconomics and Intermediate MicroeconomicsÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦active with Athlete Ally and Princeton High School's IDEAS Center, as well as participating on student panels with Lafayette admissions.

Tori Smith, Volleyball: Chemical Engineering major with a 3.68 GPAÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦four-year starter and a team captain in her senior seasonÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦named an Oaks Leadership Academy Leader of Distinction and honored as a Marquis ScholarÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selectionÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬¦active as a Lafayette Drug and Alcohol Peer Advisor and Treasurer.
