Baseball Announces Staff Changes

Ricci hired, Lyons-Harrison promoted, Siemek joins staff

EASTON, Pa. -  Head coach Tim Reilly has announced the addition of Ryan Ricci and Garrett Siemek, to the Lafayette baseball staff along with the promotion of John Lyons-Harrison.

"I am extremely lucky to have two of the hardest working assistant coaches in college baseball," Lafayette baseball head coach Tim Reilly said. "I am consistently impressed with their ability to recruit and develop our players. The future is bright for the Leopard baseball program."

Joining the staff this season is Ryan Ricci. Ricci comes to College Hill by way of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where he has spent the last two years as a graduate assistant. While at Mason, he was involved with the pitching staff, coordinated their strength and conditioning and aided in their development on the mound. He also assisted in recruiting and served as the liaison with academic support.

"In a very short amount of time, Ryan has been able to improve the way we develop our pitchers. It didn't take long for our arms to realize they had a wealth of knowledge to learn from in Coach Ricci. Ryan is completely invested in the personal needs of each individual pitcher and is relentless in finding new ways to improve on the mound."

Ricci attended George Mason where he pitched for the Patriots baseball team from 2015-2018. Over the course of his junior and senior seasons, he had a combined 2.55 ERA out of the bullpen and was a member of the 2018 team that played in the A10 Conference Championship game. He signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, playing one season in the Diamondbacks organization. He also spent time with the Hillsboro Hops in the Northwest League.

He graduated from George Mason with a degree in Kinesiology.

"I want to thank Tim Reilly for this great opportunity and I am very excited to be a part of the Leopard family," Ricci said. "There is no doubt this program has a lot of potential and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do as a coaching staff, and what our players can do on and off the field. Our season opener can't come soon enough! Roll Pards!"

Also joining the staff for the 2021 season is volunteer assistant Garrett Siemek, who comes to College Hill after spending the last three years as a Director of Baseball Operations with the National Club Baseball Association in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While as the Director of Operations, he oversaw over a hundred teams each year, handling their scheduling, playoffs, team development and other day-to-day operations.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Siemek was a player and coach for the Gamecocks club baseball team from 2013-2017. He graduated from South Carolina with a degree in Sports and Entertainment Management and a minor in Business Administration.

Entering his second season on College Hill, Lyons-Harrison has been promoted to Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the 2021 season after serving as the Volunteer Assistant in his first year on staff in 2020. He will continue to coach the baserunners and outfielders while assisting head coach Tim Reilly with the offense.

"We are very excited to promote John to our recruiting coordinator position," Reilly said. "John's ability to find and create relationships with the right players for Lafayette College allow us to put together a very exciting 2021 recruiting class. His work ethic and commitment to Lafayette are a tremendous asset to our program and school."

The Lafayette Nine kicks-off their 2021 season with a double header against Wagner on March 6.
