EASTON, Pa. –  Lafayette football has secured six commitments on National Signing Day, running the number of Leopards in the Class of 2025 to 21. Fifteen outstanding student-athletes
made it official in December during the early signing period.
Among the most recent signees, three are slotted for each side of the ball, leaving 11 on offense and 10 on defense. Of the National Signing Day commitments, the Leopards welcome two running backs, two defensive linemen, a wide receiver and a defensive back as part of the ninth scholarship class in the Patriot League era.
"It's another great day for Lafayette Football as we complete our 2021 recruiting class with the addition of six more impressive student-athletes on National Signing Day. Joining an already impressive group of talented student-athletes from the early signing day in December, these young men come from states rich in high school football tradition, with one from right here in Easton, Pa." saidÂ
John Garrett, the Fred M. Kirby '42 Head Football Coach. "We have added talent to our roster and depth at key positions. I thank our assistant coaches and our recruiting staff for their hard work in constructing a recruiting class that will help us continue to build a program that we are proud of on and off the field. GO LEOPARDS! BEAT Lehigh!"
For the entire recruiting class of 2025 on defense, Garrett and defensive coordinator
Doug McFadden added four players up front and in the secondary and two at linebacker. Offensively, Garrett and his staff stacked the roster with five linemen, two running backs, two wide receivers, a quarterback and a tight end.
The early signees from the Class of 2025 come to College Hill from 11 states: six from New Jersey, three from Ohio, two each from Florida, Kentucky and Georgia and one apiece from Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Texas. Fourteen members were multiple sport athletes at the varsity level.
Lafayette's recruiting classes have had immediate impacts on the program, as Lafayette has claimed the last two Patriot League Rookie of the Year awards, including DL
Malik Hamm who won in 2018 and followed that by garnering Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2019. In 2019, 18 freshmen played in five or more games and nine of them started at least one game. In 2018, 15 freshmen played in four or more games, including eight who had a start.
