Men’s Golf Finishes 3rd at Battle at Rum Pointe

Cronin, Osawa tie for 6th place to lead Leopards

BERLIN, Md. — The Lafayette men's golf team took third place in the Battle at Rum Pointe on Sunday at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links' par-72 course.

The Leopards posted an 18-over-par 594 in the two-day tournament to finish behind Bucknell (12-over 588)  and Youngstown State (15-over 591), respectively.

Leading the way for the Leopards were senior Brendan Cronin and junior Kazuki Osawa, who both finished in a tie for sixth place with a 2-over 146. 

Osawa shot a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round and had a 4-over 76 in the final round. Cronin carded a 1-under 71 in the first round and followed with a 3-over 75 in the last round. 

Senior Cole Berger and sophomore Martin Vanhaelst had the next best finishes for the Maroon and White, as they both tied for 24th with an 8-over 152. Junior Ryan Tall rounded out the lineup for the Leopards by tying for 30th with a 9-over 153. 

Drew Steiner, Augie Beers, and T.J. Repczynski also competed in the tournament for the Leopards, but did so as individuals. Steiner finished in a tie for 36th (11-over 155), Beers tied for 45th (15-over 159), and Repczynski took 50th (17-over 161).

The Leopards will hit the links next Saturday when they play in the Rolling Green Intercollegiate at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa.
