EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette athletics continued its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Wednesday morning, unveiling the five female student-athletes up for the Class of 1913 Trophy. The nominees include women's volleyball's Jenna Bailey, women's track and field's Olivia Barney, women's cross country and track and field's Ainsley Jacobs, women's soccer's Krista Kissell, and women's swimming and diving's Mary Zimmerman.

The PARDees is an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs. This year's show will take place on Friday.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented to one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.

The male nominees for the Class of 1913 Trophy will be released this week, leading up to Friday's event. Information on the 2021 female nominees for the Class of 1913 Trophy can be found below.

Jenna Bailey, Women's Volleyball: Psychology major...played 85 career matches as a setter and attacker...tallied 1,120 career assists...helped the Leopards post 13 wins in 2019-20, the most they had since 2017...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times...made the Dean's list six times...member of the Psi Chi Honor Society...worked as a psychology lab assistant...volunteered for Safe Harbor...an Oaks Leadership Leadership Academy 360 Leader/member.

Olivia Barney, Women's Track and Field: Government & Law and Spanish major...placed fourth in the hammer throw at the 2021 Patriot League Outdoor Championships...finished in the top 15 at the Patriot League Championships seven times...ranks in the top 10 at Lafayette in the hammer, discus, indoor 20 lb weight, outdoor shot put, and indoor shot put...served as captain in 2021...member of team leadership council for three years...letterwinner in all six competitive seasons in career...an Oaks Leadership Leadership Academy 360 Leader/member and Safe Harbor volunteer for three years...made the Dean's List in all seven semesters...a McKelvy Scholar,  Peer Mentor and Peer Tutor...served as Chair for the Lafayette Student Government Athletic Affairs Committee for three years...member of the The Phi Beta Kappa Society,  La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria HispÃnica, Sigma Delta Pi, The National Political Science Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha...helped increase travel accessibility for students, faculty, and staff within the Lehigh Valley through a partnership with the Office of Public Safety and a local public transport company that resulted in higher event turn-out and raised school spirit...member of the Pepper Prize Selection Committee, which annually selects a senior who best represents the Lafayette ideal to serve as commencement speaker...member of the Curriculum and Education Policy Faculty Committee...worked with the Office of Intercultural Development to facilitate Multicultural Training for the Athletic Department's faculty and staff...earned the James F. Bryant '40 Excellence Award...helped approve changes to the Common Course of Study...worked at the voting polls during the 2020 Presidential Election.

Ainsley Jacobs, Women's Cross Country and Track & Field: Government and Law major…holds school record for the outdoor 5,000-meter run...ranked third in school history in the 10,000-meter run...placed third in the 10,000-meter run at the 2021 Outdoor Patriot League Championships...finished fourth in the 10,000 at the ECAC Championships to earn All-East honors...placed eighth in the 2021 Patriot League Cross Country Championships...named to All-Patriot League Second Team...placed seventh in the 10,000-meter run at the 2019 Outdoor Patriot League Championships...served as team captain for cross country for two years and track and field for one year...selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll six times...made the Dean's List three times...member of Lafayette College's chapter of Best Buddies International, serving as a family aide for a young adult with developmental disability and working with developmentally challenged adults on multiple life skills to improve daily happiness.

Krista Kissell, Women's Soccer: Economics  major...played in 48 career games with 44 starts as a forward...selected to the All-Patriot League First Team two times (2019, 2020-21)...became the first Lafayette player to be named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year during the 2019 season...led the Patriot League in assists with six in 2019...selected for the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region second team in 2019...named to the All-Patriot League Third Team in 2017...earned spot on Academic All-Patriot League Team two times (2019, 2020-21)...selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times...made the Dean's List in every semester...served as a Teaching Assistant and Peer Mentor...member of Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Athletes CARE.

Mary Zimmerman, Women's Swimming and Diving: Government and Law major…finished top five in six events (50-meter, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 1,650 freestyles) in every season...served as team co-captain...named a College Swimming Coaches Academic All American all seven semesters...made the Dean's list five times...received the Lafayette College swimming Academic Achievement award...served as President of Lafayette Student Government, Chairperson of the Athletic Affairs Committee, and Associate Member of the Building and Grounds Committee...member of the Presidential Search Committee and Experience Lafayette Committee...an Oaks Leadership Leadership Academy 360 Leader/member and Peer Mentor...served as the External Philanthropy Chair and Director of Programming and Watchcare for the Alpha Phi Women's Fraternity.

About the PARDees

The PARDees is an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs. There are five honors that will be awarded this year:

●      Class of 1913 Trophy represents the scholar-athlete award.  This award is presented to a distinguished senior class male and a distinguished senior class female for stellar academic achievement and outstanding athletic performance.  
●      Charles L. Albert '08 Award represents the Athlete Award and this award is presented to a distinguished senior class male and a distinguished senior class female for outstanding athletic performance.  
●      Oaksie Award is named in honor of Dr. Wilbur Oaks '51 (Oaksie) whose life was dedicated to service, his family, and Lafayette.  The Community, Leadership, and Service Award recognizes a student-athlete who has made significant contributions to the community by demonstrating leadership and a commitment to service and/or volunteerism. This award, presented annually to one student-athlete, recognizes graduating seniors whose multi-year commitments have made lasting contributions to the Lafayette community.
●      The Courage Award is given to one student-athlete who possessed strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril and the willingness to display positivity following a hardship. The recipient has influenced his/her program on-and-off the playing field with a positive attitude, a willingness to help in any capacity and a commitment to excellence following a hardship.
●      The PARDS Award recognizes one student-athlete for striving towards the values Lafayette Athletics embodies, being a Leopard! PARDS: Passionate, Accountable, Resilient, Driven, and Selfless. This award is given to a student-athlete who promotes the athletic department's mission, vision and values through their actions, demonstrates exceptional leadership ability, and fosters a positive and motivating environment for their team and the athletic department as a whole. The recipient will always exhibit enthusiasm, spirit, and leadership while helping to cultivate a championship culture that drives success.
