BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team continued their season today at the Moravian Indoor Invite. The women finished second overall with 80 points, while the men finished fifth overall with 56 points.
On the women's side,
Juliette Delmotte had a huge meet for the Leopards, winning two events. Her first win came in the long jump with a top mark of 17' 11". Her second win of the day came in the triple jump with a top mark of 37 1
1/4". Both marks are good for the eighth best in school history in the event.
Eliana Liebman also had a big performance in the long jump, finishing third overall with a mark of 17' 4
3/4". She also finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 35' 8".
Claire Fedor finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 34' 5
1/2".
Another huge performance came from
Grace O'Mara, winning the shot put with a mark of 42' 4". O'Mara's mark is good for the seventh best in school history in the event. Finishing fifth in the event was
Meredith McGee with a throw of 36' 0".Â
Continuing in the throwing events was the Leopards' success in the weight throw, finishing third through sixth. Leading the way was once again O'Mara with a throw of 48' 7
1/4". Behind O'Mara was McGee (4th, 46' 2
3/4"),
Solape Fakorede (5th, 45' 6
1/4"), and
Julie Soldat (6th, 44' 1
1/4").
Angel Awono also had a big performance, finishing second overall in thr 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.57 seconds.
Keeping the action going in the one mile run was
Alex Avery, finishing fourth overall in a final time of 5:29.46. Finishing behind her in seventh was
Emma Lorey in a time of 5:31.31.
Julia Greeley also got in on the action, finishing fouth overall in the pole vault with a top mark of 10' 2".
Closing out the action on the women's side was
Kirsten McKenna, finishing seventh overall in the 400 meter run in a time of 1:04.93.
On the men's side,
Jordan Anderson had a huge performance on the day. In the 200 meter run, he finished first overall in a time of 23.15. In the 60 meter dash, he finished second overall in a time of 7.11 seconds.
Jack Lynett also produced a second place finish in the pole vault, with a top mark of 13' 11
3/4".
Another second place finish came from
Quinn Curtin in the triple jump with a top mark of 43' 10
1/2". He also finished seventh overall in the long jump with a mark of 20' 0
1/4".
The one mile run produced some strong finishes on the day for Lafayette, finishing third, fourth, and sixth in the race. Leading the way was
Sean Hamilton with a time of 4:34.58. Behind Hamilton was
Elias Podber (4:36.04) and
Emil Arangala (4:41.05).
Charley Eagle also had a strong day, finishing fourth overall in the 3,000 meter run in a final time of 9:03.06.
Closing out the action on the men's side was weight throw.
Andrew Bowsher lead the way for Lafayette, finishing seventh with a top throw of 45' 11
1/4".
The Leopards return to action on January 29th with a dual meet against Lehigh at 2:00 PM EST.
