BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team continued their season today in a dual meet against rival Lehigh. The women fell short by a total score of 113-68, while the men also fell short by a total score of 122-59.
On the women's side, the Leopards won three events on the day. The first win came from
Julia Greeley in the pole vault, finishing first with a top mark of 10' 11
1/2". The win scored five points for Lafayette.
The second win on the day came from
Grace O'Mara, finishing first in the shot put with a top mark of 42' 11
1/2". The win scored another five points on the day for the women's total. O'Mara later came back to finish second in the weight throw, with a mark of 51' 9
3/4". Both her marks in the shot put and weight throw are new personal bests.
The final win of the day came from
Autumn Sands, finishing first in the one mile run in a time of 5:04.93. Sands' first place finish scored five points for the women's total, and is a new personal best for her in the event.
On the men's side, the Leopards won one event on the day. The win came from
Jordan Anderson, finishing first in the long jump with a top mark of 23' 3
1/2". The win scored five points for the men's total. Anderson came back later in the day to finish second in the 60 meter run in a time of 7.03 seconds, adding three more points to his meet total. The finish from Anderson in the long jump is the third best in the Patriot League this season.
Quinn Curtin had a strong performance for Lafayette, finishing second overall in the triple jump with a top mark of 43' 9
3/4". The finish scored three points in the event.
The one mile race was a super competitive race, as first through fourth place were separated by only a little over four seconds. Leading the way for Lafayette was
Bobby Oehrlein (3rd, 4.16.30) and
Austin Barry (4th, 4:17.64). These finishes scored a combined three points in the event.
Ryan Moore also had a strong performance, finishing second in the 400 meter run in a time of 53.97 to score another three points. Another second place finish came from
Ryan Murphy in the 800 meter run in a time of 1:56.76 to score three points.
Another strong finish came from
Thomas Anthony in the 3,000 meter run, finishing third overall in a time of 8:39.68 to score two points in the event.
