WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Lafayette track and field team continued their season this weekend at the Monmouth Winter Invite.
On the men's side,
Jordan Anderson had a huge meet for the Leopards, winning the long jump with a top mark of 23' 11". Anderson's win was in a field of 35 total jumpers, making the win even more impressive.
The next best finish on the day came from
Emil Arangala, finishing sixth out of 20 runners in the 3,000 meter run in a time of 8:56.90. Arangala was the top first year finisher in the event. Finishing eighth in the event was
Alex Gent in a time of 9:12.82.Â
Charley Eagle had a strong performance in the one mile run, finishing 12th overall in a time of 4:30.84 in one of the most competitive races on the day. Finishing behind him in 15th place was
Elias Podber in a time of 4:33.62.
In the 800 meter run,
Sean Hamilton finished 16th overall in a final time of 2:04.73.
On the women's side,
Portia McKoy had a strong performance, finishing third overall in the 60 meter dash in a time of 8.10 seconds.
Another third place finish came from
Nava Chevan in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:01.12. Finishing seventh in the race in a final time of 1:02.44 was
Kirsten McKenna.
Maura Timoney had a big race for Lafayette, fourth overall in the 3,000 meter run in a final time of 10:49.08.Â
Another fourth place finish came from
Julia Greeley, tying for fourth overall in the pole vault with a top mark of 10' 11
3/4".
In the throwing department,
Grace O'Mara continued her strong season, finishing sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 49' 5". She also finished 12th in the shot put with a top mark of 38' 2
3/4".
The one mile run was another successful event for the women, as they finished with three top 10 finishes in the race. Leading the way for Lafayette was
Emma Lorey (6th, 5:23.30). Behind Lorey was
Alex Avery (7th, 5:23.95) and
Alexandra Borik (9th, 5:38.07).
The 800 meter dash also produced two top 10 times on the day. Leading the way in event was
Sara Tippin (7th, 2:27.40) and
Casey MacElhiney (8th, 2:27.72).Â
Another seventh place finish on the day came from
Juliette Delmotte in the triple jump with a top mark of 36' 10
1/2".
