Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Saturday Night Setback to Binghamton

Fitzpatrick, Lehman and Collins each net three goals

EASTON, Pa. – Junior Macklin Fitzpatrick netted the game-tying goal with just 1:06 to play to force overtime, but the Lafayette College men's lacrosse team suffered a 13-12 to Binghamton loss Saturday night in Fisher Stadium.

Fitzpatrick netted three goals and had an assist while sophomore Peter Lehman also found the net three times. Junior Brian Collins came off the bench for a hat-trick to lead the way for the Leopards.

Binghamton took an 8-5 lead into the halftime locker room, before the Leopards began the comeback bid, outscoring the visitors 4-1 in the third period.

The two teams traded goals in the fourth period after Lafayette took a 10-9 lead after the Collins unassisted goal early in the final frame. The Bearcats took a 12-11 lead with two minutes to play before Fitzpatrick tied it to force overtime.

After back-to-back turnovers at the start of the extra period, Binghamton netted the game-winning just one minute into overtime.

Junior Ryan Duncan notched four points with a goal and two assists while sophomore John Mathes tallied two goals.

The attention now turns to Patriot League play as Loyola comes to College Hill March 5 for a noon start inside Fisher Stadium.
