GLADSTONE, N.J. -- The Presidents' Cup has concluded with the Leopards falling to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks by a score of 8.5-8.5. The annual match play event at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club began with four better ball doubles matches, with the teams of sophomore
Michael Walsh and senior
Drew Steiner, and senior
Kazuki Osawa and junior
Martin Vanhaelst claiming two victories. The teams of junior
Augie Beers and freshman
Raymond Dennehy, and freshman
Sean Saw and senior
Ryan Tall tied their matches allowing the Leopards take and early 3-1 lead.
The team round continued with an alternate shots double match. The team of
Sean Saw and freshman
Michael Bell won their match, while the team of Walsh and Vanhaelst tied their match. The Mountain Hawks were still able to close the gap down to a score of 4.5-3.5.
The tournament concluded with an individual round of nine matches. The round started off strong with senior
T.J. Repczynski and freshman
Quint Dingledine winning their matches. In the Ryder Cup-style format, the Leopards needed 9 points to reclaim the title, but they could only manage to halve four of the seven remaining matches. The Mountain Hawks managed to win the individual round 5-4 and tie the score, thus retaining the title.
The Leopards final match of the year will be the Patriot League Championship from April 29-May 1. Lafayette will be hosting the tournament at the Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa.
