Track and Field Competes in Last Meet Before PL Championships

Awono moves up to No. 5 all-time in the 60-meter hurdles

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Leopards participated in the Bucknell Tune Up on Friday night, with four athletes obtaining Lafayette all-time performances.

For the men, in the field, junior Jack Lynett and sophomore Benjamin Hill secured first and second place, respectively, pole vaulting 15' 3" and tying for No. 8 all-time for Lafayette. Senior Andrew Bowsher garnered second in the weight throw (55' 5") and junior Quinn Curtin managed fourth in the triple jump (43' 10.5").

On the running side, freshman Dexter DeMarco placed second and No. 8 all-time in the 60-meter hurdles with a final time of 8.63. Sophomore Titan Casey snagged a first-place finish in the 800 meters with a final time of 1:56.17. Freshman Alexander Caba ran a 22.78 in the 200 meters for second. 

Freshman Christian Wright finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.05), just ahead of classmate Harrison Rosen in fourth (7.17). Sophomore John Paul Pfisterer had a final time of 51.52 in the 400 meters for fourth. Seniors Sam Fowler and Sean Hamilton each managed fifth place in the mile (4:22.01) and the 800 meters (2:00.78), respectively.

Running for the women, junior Angel Awono moved up to No. 5 all-time in the 60-meter hurdles with a final time of 9.02 and a first-place finish. Freshman Ida Moczerniuk secured first place in the 60-meter dash, running a 7.79, and classmate Gabby Buber garnered the victory in the 200 meters (25.97). Sophomore Maeve Waldron finished second in the 200 meters (26.11) and third in the 60-meter dash (8.00).

Sophomore Elena Malone ran a 2:18.35 in the 800 meters for second and freshman Ava Severino ran a 5:19.70 in the mile for fifth.

In the field events, senior Sophia Dongaris and junior Julia Greeley obtained second place finishes in the triple jump (36' 5") and pole vault (11' 3.75"), respectively, while senior Juliette Delmotte managed fourth in the long jump (17' 4.75").

The Maroon and White compete one last time for the indoor season at the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 24-25 in Boston, Mass.
