EASTON, Pa. – The Leopards hosted day one of the annual Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at Northampton Country Club.
Sophomore Harry Dessel leads the way for the Leopards after round one, carding a 72 and placing t-6. Freshmen Eli Myers and Winston Kelenc-Blanc each tied for 21st with a 75, while classmate Hudson Pace and junior Sean Saw tied for 35th with 77 on the par-72, 6675-yard course.Â
Juniors Michael Bell and Quint Dingledine and senior Carter Ablon collectively shot 78, tying for 44th. Rounding up the scoring for the Leopards, sophomores Boyoung Chang and Valdemar Kofod-Olsen tied for 71st, each carding 82.
The 10 Lafayette players are split into two teams, Maroon and White. Lafayette Maroon is made up of Dessel, Dingledine, Saw, Ablon and Kelenc-Blank and Lafayette White consists of Bell, Chang, Kofod-Olsen, Hudson Pace and Eli Myers. Maroon and White stand in eighth and 12th out of 13, respectively. Lafayette Maroon totaled 302 for round one and Lafayette White totaled 312.
Lehigh leads the way in the team division, shooting a 288 overall with even par for round one. Lehigh's Will Caronchi stands in first place going into round two after carding a 67, five-under-par.
The Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational continues Monday for the second and final round at 9 a.m.
