WORCESTER, Mass. – Lafayette track and field wrapped up day two of the Patriot League Championships at Holy Cross' Hart Track on Saturday with two medals, three school records, scored in nine events and attained nine Lafayette all-time top 10 performances. The Leopard women finished seventh while the men finished eighth.
For the women, sophomore Ida Moczerniuk earned a spot on the podium for the 100 meters, taking home silver with a time of 11.79. Moczerniuk not only snagged second place, but she broke the Lafayette school record in the 100 meters, her own record from previously this season, by 0.05 seconds.
Senior Nava Chevan secured third in the 800 meters with a final time of 2:06.79, leaving with a bronze medal. Chevan also broke the school record in the 800 meters for the second time during the conference championships, beating her time from day one by 1.04 seconds.
The team of sophomore Gabby Buber, juniors Alexa LaSasso and Maeve Waldron and Chevan collected sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a final time of 3:48.41. Their performance secured them No. 3 all-time at Lafayette.
Senior Angel Awono, freshman Lily Jenkins, Buber and Waldron placed eighth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 48.00, reaching No. 9 all-time.
Sophomore Ava Severino improved upon her spot at No. 6 all-time in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:15.38, placing 10th.
Sophomore Abbey Nichols achieved No. 6 all-time in the heptathlon, finishing 11th with 4,347 points.
On the men's side, juniors Roman Conca and J.P. Pfisterer and sophomores Christian Wright and Alexander Caba set a new school record in the 4x400 relay with a final time of 3:12.99. The team's time surpassed the 56-year-old record from 1969 by 0.25 seconds. Their performance earned them fourth place, putting points on the board for the Leopards.
The team of Wright, Caba, Conca and freshman Kaseme Leckie pushed for sixth in the 4x100 relay, finishing in 41.25.
Sophomore John Liedtka reeled in fifth in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.43 and achieving No. 2 all-time.
Junior Liam Sawian took on the decathlon, finishing seventh with 6,363 points and earning No. 6 all-time.
Junior Titan Casey ran 1:54.55 in the 800 meters for eighth place.
Army took home the gold for the women with Boston University and Navy following in second and third. For the men, Navy secured the victory while Army and Boston earned silver and bronze.
Next up the Maroon and White will head to the Army Twilight on May 8.
