THE WEEKEND SERIES: Lafayette plays its final non-conference weekend series of the 2016 season when it hosts Rider on Sunday for two games. The first pitch is slated for noon.

LAST TIME OUT: Villanova took both ends of doubleheader on Thursday, topping the Leopards 1-0 and 4-1. In game one, the Wildcats (21-13) scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning on an RBI-single. The Leopards had their offensive chances, leaving a pair of runners on in the first, third and fifth innings and a total of eight runners in the game. Lafayette managed eight hits on the afternoon, two of which came from Samantha Sweigart who had a single in both games to run her hitting streak to nine games. In game two, Villanova scored two runs in the second and two in the sixth for a 4-1 decision. Rebecca Dvorak delivered an RBI-single in seventh to score Jenna Didio and get Lafayette on the scoreboard.

WEEKLY AWARDS: Samantha Sweigart and Brooke Wensel were named the Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on April 11. It was the first career weekly honor for Sweigart who hit for a .538 average. She smacked a home run on the first pitch of Sunday's doubleheader and scored three runs in a 9-4 win. In the finale, she was 2-for-3 with three RBIs in a 10-9 victory as Lafayette claimed its first Patriot League series since 2012 by taking two of three from Holy Cross. Wensel collects her third Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor this season after winning the award Feb. 22 and 29. She hit for a .471 clip in a 3-2 week that included a doubleheader split with La Salle. Wensel was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the 9-4 win over Holy Cross.

ABOUT THE YOUTH: Lafayette is one of 28 teams in the nation to feature 10 or more freshmen and sophomores on its roster. The youngsters make up 56 percent of the roster.

ABOUT RIDER: The Broncs come into the weekend at 4-25 overall and 1-5 in MAAC play, securing wins over Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson (2) and Iona. Rider played a doubleheader with Manhattan on Saturday.

Senior catcher Kim Valdes and senior first base Dana Sensi share the team lead in hitting, each with a .322 average while batting in the middle of the order. Sensi has a team-best 11 RBIs on 28 hits.

Junior Megan Ailand (1-8) has thrown 76.2 innings while classmate Delany DeMello (2-3) leads the team with a 4.40 ERA in 41.1 innings pitched.
