EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men and women's track and field team continued their season today with another home meet against rival, Lehigh. The men secured the victory with a final score of 107-96, while the women fell short 125-77.

Kicking off the action for the men was Samuel Fishbein, winning the hammer throw with a best toss of 56.42 meters. The toss was over six feet further than the second place finish, and is another IC4A Qualifying mark for Fishbein. He later came back to also win the discus throw in a toss of 41.91 meters, and Harrison Greenhill finished in second behind him with a throw of 40.66 meters.

Greenhill was not finished, as he came back later to win the shot put with a mark of 16.28 meters, over two meters further than the second place finisher. The mark was good enough to qualify Greenhill in the IC4A Championships once again.

In the long jump, Brian Kaufmann had a big performance, winning the event with a top mark of 6.79 meters for the Leopards. He later came back to also win the triple jump with a top jump of 13.69 meters.

Another jump event the Leopards took home first in was the high jump, thanks to a 1.97 meter mark from Jermaine Rhoden. The mark was good for five points in the event.

In the hurdle events, Timothy Payne took home first place in the 110 meter hurdles, with a finishing time of 14.50 seconds. The time from Payne is another IC4A qualifier.

Another win belonged to Thomas Strand, winning the 400 meter dash in a blazing time of 49.09 seconds for the Leopards. He also won the 200 meter dash in another fast time of 22.48 to combine for ten points in the events. The 400 meter time is a IC4A qualifier for Strand.

In the distance events, Calvin Schneck won the 1500 meter run in a finishing time of 3:57.17 to score another five points for Lafayette.

Jillian Warabak then came with possible the craziest finish of the day, winning the 100 meter hurdles in a final time of 14.77, 0.01 seconds faster than the second place finish for Lehigh.

Another successful event for the women was the 400 meter dash, as Amy Hewlett (1st, 57.49) and Crosby Spiess (2nd, 57.96) lead the way to score eight points in the event.

The Leopards also went one-two in the 5000 meter run, as Autumn Sands (1st, 17:37.98) and Gabrielle Galletta (2nd, 17:44.24) set the pace for the event and scored another eight points in the event.

The final win for the ladies came in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:01.16.

"It was a team effort for the men, said head coach Michele Curcio.  They came out determined to win and earned important second and third place finishes which proved to be the difference.  Thomas Strand had a big day with wins in the 200 and 400 meter, plus anchoring both relay wins.  Calvin Schneck had an upset win in the 1500 meter and we won six of the eight field events."

"For the women, all of the winners either ran personal bests or season bests," said Curcio.

The Leopards return to action on April 11th-12th at the Mondschein Multi in Kutztown, Pa.
