* The Lafayette women's lacrosse team opens up a new era on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Dover, Del. for its season opener at Delaware State at 12 p.m.
* The game will be the first on the Leopards' sideline for head coach
Katie McConnell, who spent the past three seasons as the head coach at Manhattan. McConnell, the 2019 MAAC Coach of the Year, led the team to its first postseason appearance since 2009 a year ago and its 11-6 overall record marked a tie for the most wins in program history.
* Seniors
Bella Alampi and
Kylie Young will lead the Maroon and Whtie into battle as co-captains this season. Alampi played in all 17 games as a junior, scoring 17 goals, while Young has battled through injury throughout her career and will finally get an opportunity to make an impact on the field in her final campaign.
* Junior
Quinn Lacy returns to patrol the pipes for the Leopards in 2020. Lafayette's primary option a year ago with all 17 starts, Lacy made double-digit saves on nine different occasions, including a pair of 17-save outings against Saint Joseph's and Bucknell.Â
* Delaware State is looking to improve upon a 2-11 campaign a year ago that saw the Hornets go 0-5 in conference action. The home side is led by first-year head coach Pamella Jenkins, who takes over the program following three years as head coach at Notre Dame (Ohio).Â
