BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team continued their season Saturday at the Lehigh John and Carol Covert Classic, competing against Lehigh, Loyola Md., Bucknell, Binghamton, Monmouth, and Muhlenberg.
On the women's side,
Olivia Barney once again had a huge performance. In the discus, Barney finished second overall with a top mark of 134' 11". She then came back later to finish fifth overall in the shot put with a throw of 40' 6
1/4".Â
Also having another big day in the throwing events was
Grace O'Mara. In the discus, O'Mara finished third overall with a top mark of 132' 11". She also came back later to finish eighth overall in the shot put with a throw of 38' 7
3/4".Â
In the hammer throw,
Meredith McGee lead the way for the Leopards, finishing eighth overall in a final mark of 146' 0". Right behind McGee was O'Mara in ninth with a mark of 134' 9".
Another second place finish came from
Katie Ullmann in the high jump with a top mark of 5' 3".Â
Katherine Riley also had a solid performance, finishing sixth overall in the 1,500 meter run in a final time of 4:55.20. Behind Riley was
Liv Palma (9th, 5:01.14),
Emma Lorey (10th, 5:04.79), and
Emily Becker (12th, 5:10.09).
In the pole vault,
Julia Knowles, finished eighth overall with a top vault of 10' 0".Â
Another strong performance came from
Lizzie Harmon in the 800 meter run, as she finished ninth, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:20.34. Behind Harmon in 12th place was
Mikayla Randall, finishing in a time of 2:21.12.
On the men's side,
Dylan Drescher continued his strong season, finishing fourth in the javelin with a top throw of 165' 11".
Tim Larsen also put forth a strong show for Lafayette, as he finished seventh overall in the 5,000 meter run in a final time of 16:21.20.
Mark Sabin also continued his successful season, finishing tied for eighth overall in the pole vault with a top mark of 13' 9
1/4".
The Leopards return to action April 30th-May 1st at the Patriot League Championships, held in West Point, N.Y.
