STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Lafayette Track and Field team continued its indoor season Friday afternoon at the NYC Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility.
For the women, junior Nava Chevan placed sixth in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 59.92. Chevan set a new indoor personal best with her performance. Freshman Kira Marr managed an eleventh-place finish in the one-mile run (5:14.75), and junior Emma Lorey finished behind her in twelfth place (5:17.08). In the 1000-meter run, junior Lily Dineen took home sixth place (3:01.96). Dineen nearly managed an all-time top ten finish after running the 1000-meter run for the first time ever. Sophomore Sara Tippin finished eighth in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:25.81. In the 3000-meter run, freshman Elizabeth Borah finished inside the top-five in fourth place, clocking 10:07.58 for the seventh fastes time in school history. Senior teammate Rachel Hurley managed a seventh-place finish (10:26.74), and classmate Dannah Javens took home thirteenth place (10:51.24).Â
On the men's side, freshman Titan Casey finished fifth in the mile run, posting a time of 2:29.03. Classmate Quinn Worrell finished less than a second behind Casey in sixth place, clocking 2:29.06. Casey and Worrell finished just outside the all-time top ten list for Lafayette. Freshman Roman Conca placed fifteenth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.49. In the 3000-meter run, junior Sean Hamilton took home ninth place (8:48.25). Sophomore Emil Arangala finished behind him in thirteenth place (8:52.16), and junior Elias Podber took home fifteenth place (8:58.71). In the weight throw, senior Andrew Swiniarski managed a fifth-place finish with a throw of 53' 8". Classmate Andrew Bowsher finished in tenth place, scoring 48' 3" on his best throw.Â
The Track and Field team will continue a busy weekend on Saturday for the Moravian Indoor Invite, as well as the Villanova University Invite.
