Maroon and White Face Lehigh in Dual Meet

O'Mara earns victories in weight throw and shot put

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team faced off against Lehigh on Saturday afternoon for a dual meet. Lehigh took the men's competition 118-60 and women's event 108.5-72.5.

Senior Andrew Swiniarski managed a victory in the weight throw with an effort of  57' 9.50". In the shot put, senior Fischer Biggs finished in third place (47' 2.50"). Sophomore Jack Lynett secured a third-place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 14' 4.50". Lynett also took home third place in the triple jump (42' 4"). Freshman Roman Conca earned a victory in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.05. Conca also managed a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.99). Classmate Titan Casey took home second place in the 800-meter run (1:56.71). In the 1,000-meter run, A.J. Sanford II finished in third place with a time of 2:32.42. Senior Bobby Oehrlein earned a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:33.71) and sophomore Emil Arangala finished behind Oerhlein in third place (8:44.41). 

On the women's side, the Leopards swept the podium in the weight throw. Senior Grace O'Mara finished in first place (49' 1.75") followed by classmate Solape Fakorede in second (49' .25") and sophomore Erin O'Leary in third place (48' 7.25"). O'Mara also earned a victory in the shot put with a throw of 41' 1". Classmate Fakorede finished behind her in second place (38' 7.50").

Sophomore Julia Greeley finished tied for second place in the pole vault, vaulting 12' .50". In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Angel Awono managed a third-place finish, clocking a time of 9.13. Freshman Maeve Waldron managed a victory in the 200-meter dash, running a time of 16.19. Waldron also secured second place in the 60-meter dash (7.98) and sophomore Nava Chevan took home second place in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:19.19.

Junior Lily Dineen finished in second place in the 800-meter run (2:21.95). In the 1,000-meter run, senior Alex Avery placed third with a time of 3:01.85. Senior Becky Hartman earned a victory in the 3000-meter run (10:14.34) and freshman Ashleigh Lustgarten finished in second place (10:15.59). 

The Maroon and White will continue their season in New York, N.Y. for the Rutgers Invite from Feb. 3-4.
