HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Leopards began their outdoor track and field season on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge at High Point University.
Running for the women, sophomore Ida Moczerniuk broke the Lafayette school record in the 100 meters, her own record from the 2023-24 season of 12.02, with a time of 11.84, placing sixth. Moczerniuk also earned fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.04. Sophomore Abbey Nichols captured fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.39) while senior Angel Awono followed in ninth (1:12.02).
The team of Awono, freshmen Mia Conca and Leah Rudolph and sophomore Isabel Choma collected fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a final time of 50.65.
On the men's side, sophomore John Liedtka enjoyed a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74, securing No. 6 all-time at Lafayette. Liedtka also took home eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 58.46.Â
Junior Zachary Barban achieved fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (56.51) and classmate Liam Sawian finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (15.77). Sophomore Dexter DeMarco managed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.62).
In the field events for the women, senior Erin O'Leary garnered second in hammer throw, throwing 179' 5" and earning No. 4 all-time. Sophomores Maddie Still and Marin Rosser placed fifth (125' 11") and ninth (116' 6") in javelin.
Sophomore Bridget O'Mara earned No. 4 all-time in pole vault with a 11' 8.5" effort and 12th place.
For the men, junior Robert McClosky secured fifth in javelin (184' 6") followed by sophomore Niko Williams in sixth (181' 1"). Sophomores Jared Googel and Ivan Tejada collected seventh (167' 7") and ninth (155' 4") in hammer throw, respectively.
Senior Quinn Curtin jumped 43' 6" in triple jump for fifth place while sophomore Andrew Harrison finished right behind in sixth (41' 1"). Sawian achieved eighth in high jump (6' 2") and freshman J.T. Cook managed 10th in long jump (20' 11.75").
Senior Jack Lynett and sophomore Elliott Godin reeled in eighth (14' 4") and ninth (13' 10") in pole vault, respectively.
The Maroon and White will host the Leopard Invite, the first home meet of the season, on March 29 at 11 a.m.
