EDITOR'S NOTE: Senior power forward Mike Farrell is in his final season on College Hill and his second full season as the men's basketball team captain and author of weekly web journal entries on www.goleopards.com. Each week, the American Studies major and Florida native will detail his life as a student-athlete.

OK, so I was looking through the goleopards.com website tonight, trying to find out what Brian Burke wrote in his last journal ever. Unfortunately, I could not find it. I think that I need that precedent journal entry, for one, so that I can base my own finale off of it, and that posterity can do the same. I guess that I'll just have to wing it. Bear with me.

I'd like to thank the coaching staff first off. They are the ones who gave me the opportunity to play basketball at the Division I level, they put their confidence in me to be a leader, and they certainly helped me learn more about the game. But most importantly, they made it fun. I will forever remember all the little quirks that each coach had - or will it be the impressions that us players had of the coaches that I will remember? Regardless, these four years will always be with me.

I gotta give it up to my fellow seniors. Winston congrats on being asked to participate in the dunk contest - that in itself is an achievement. It's been a pleasure to play with you (except when you remind me of how Tampa Prep beat Father Lopez in the Florida state Final Four back in 1999). Dilly Bop (you know you ain't no cop) you are the man. Just don't be mad at me if I keep bringing up how Father Lopez beat the Benjamin School at that one Christmas tournament at the end of 1999. JD good luck in whatever and wherever life brings you. I can honestly say that I have never played with a better basketball player. Chris, I'm sorry that Megan Williams does not know how to pronounce your last name (it doesn't seem like it should be so difficult). I've always admired your heart and hustle.

To all you underclassmen: I hope that life doesn't separate us too much. You are all a great bunch of guys. Make sure to keep in touch. Good luck with the rest of your hoops careers, and get in the damn tourney for me, all right? I'll put you guys all the way to the championship game in my bracket (of course I probably won't be betting with that one). To you all - thanks for the memories, I love you guys.

A big thank you goes out to you all - the fans. You are the reason that we play the game. Mr. Bonny, I know that I will be able to come back years down the road and see you still in the stands, five days before the next game even begins. The Maroon Club, I've never been so stuffed so shortly after a home basketball game, thanks for all of your support. To the students who came (and you know who you are): that is what college is all about. If I have learned one thing in college, it is all about support. Some people counsel others, some are Writing Associates, some are peer mentors, but most of us, we go to sports games and we cheer each other on. That is where you meet people; that is where you make life long friendships.

Thanks so much for putting up with me and my bizarre schedule - I know that these journals didn't come out in any particular order - but thanks for keeping updated. It's been my pleasure to write them, I simply hope that you enjoyed them.

Best wishes to you all
