LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team continued their season Sunday evening at the Bucknell Quad meet.
In the 5,000 meter run, senior
Ainsley Jacobs had a giant performance, winning the 20-runner race in a time of 17:03.14. This time is now a school record for Lafayette in the event, breaking the previous 18 year record. It is also the fifth fastest time in the Patriot League this season in the event.
"Ainsley was phenomenal today," said assistant coach,
Michael DuPaul. "She took control of the race from the beginning and never looked back. It's easier to run fast when in a group, but Ainsley did it solo today which makes it even more impressive."
Behind Jacobs was
Autumn Sands (3rd, 17:22.09),
Rachel Hurley (5th, 17:24.72),
Becky Hartman (6th, 17:27.73), and
Dannah Javens (7th, 17:34.89). Sands is now third all time in school history in the event, Hurley sixth, Hartman seventh, and Javens tenth.
On the men's side,
Austin Barry lead the way in the 5,000 meter run for Lafayette, finishing fourth overall out of 27 runners in a time of 14:44.94. This finish is good enough for the sixth fastest in school history in the event. Also finishing strong in the race were
Michael Neeson (7th, 14:51.35) and
Ryan Branch (9th, 14:57.01). Both the finishes from Neeson and Branch are personal bests in the event. Neeson's finish is also the 10th fastest in school history in the event.
