EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team continued its season today at the Lafayette Open.
On the men's side,
Andrew Swiniarski had a big performance, finishing second in the hammer throw with a toss of 164' 11". Finishing seventh was
Andrew Bowsher with a mark of 153' 6".
In the javelin,
Dylan Drescher placed third with a toss of 165' 5" ahead of teammate
Oscar Jopp (145' 6"). Jopp also came back later to finish third in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.54 seconds.
Harrison Greenhill claimed the shot put with a mark of 50' 10". Finishing behind him in eighth was
Fischer Biggs with a mark of 43' 0
1/2". Biggs and Greenhill also came back to finish sixth and seventh in the discus with marks of 142' 5" and 140' 10" respectively.
In the pole valut,
Jack Lynett, finishing fourth with a mark of 14' 5
1/4".
Jordan Anderson had another great day for Lafayette, winning the long jump with a mark of 22' 8
1/2" while
Isaiah Moore finished third in the high jump (6' 0
3/4").
In the 800 meters, Lafayette took home first (
A.J. Sanford II in a time of 2:01.41), third (
C.J. Romine , 2:02.70) and fourth place (
Willie Marina, 2:03.88).
Lafayette had four top-10 finishes in the 1500 meter run:
Bobby Oehrlein (2nd, 4:00.06),
Austin Barry (3rd, 4:01.46),
Ryan Murphy (7th, 4:07.55) and
Charley Eagle (8th, 4:08.31).
In the 5,000 meter run, with
Jack Bell won the even in 15:37.04 while teammate
Alex Gent placed fourth (15:41.07).
On the women's side,
Erin O'Leary opened the action up, finishing fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 147' 11". Fellow thrower
Caity McTernan finishing second in the javelin with a toss of 118' 5".
In the shot put,
Grace O'Mara took third place (41' 0
1/4") while
Solape Fakorede placed fifth (34' 0
1/4").
Julia Greeley claimed the pole vault with a vault of 11' 5
3/4".
Annie Hathaway took third place (10' 6").
In the long jump,
Juliette Delmotte finished third (17' 2
3/4") while
Melina Panagakos placed fourth in the high jump (4' 11"). In the triple jump,
Isabel Zuber ended in fourth with a height of 35' 3
1/4".
In the 100 meter hurdles, the Leopards placed three competitors in the top five with
Jill Warabak leading the way in second (14.82).
Angel Awono (3rd, 15.92) and
Sophia Dongaris (5th, 16.49) rounded out the event.
In the 800 meters, Lafayette had five top-10 finishers:
Lily Dineen (2nd, 2:25.34),
Alex Avery (4th, 2:28.25),
Nava Chevan (5th, 2:28.37),
Alexandra Borik (6th, 2:30.09) and
Sara Tippin (8th, 2:32.34).
In the 1,500 meter run,
Cassandra Wilk placed third in a time of 4:53.30.
The Leopards return to action on April 2 with a dual meet against Lehigh.
