ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lafayette track and field wrapped up the Patriot League Championships at Navy's Wesley A. Brown Fieldhouse on Sunday. The women finished seventh while the men finished ninth.
The Leopards had four Lafayette all-time performances, three school records and three medals to close out the championships.
For the women, sophomore Ida Moczerniuk was the Patriot League champion in the 60-meter dash with a final time of 7.48, tying her own school record. Moczerniuk broke the school record in the 200 meters, a record set by Devin Smith in 2016, with a time of 24.60 for second place.
Senior Nava Chevan broke the school record, her own record, in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.42. It was 0.09 seconds faster than her previous mark and earned her a silver medal. Junior Alexa LaSasso finished sixth in the 800 meters (2:11.97).
The team of seniors Casey MacElhiney and Chelsey Cochrane, sophomore Gabby Buber and junior Katherine Pappas achieved No. 9 all-time in the distance medley relay with a final time of 12:13.41, taking home seventh.
Juniors Maeve Waldron and Elena Malone, LaSasso and Chevan snagged seventh in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing with a time of 3:52.72.
For the men, freshman Kaseme Leckie secured fourth in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 6.89 and earning No. 4 all-time at Lafayette. Sophomore John Liedtka garnered eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.60) and junior Quinn Worrell reeled in seventh in the 800 meters (1:53.63). Classmate Cole Chukoskie secured No. 9 all-time in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:27.83, placing 12th.
Junior Liam Sawian enjoyed a seventh-placed finish in the heptathlon with 4,823 points.
The team of juniors Roman Conca and J.P. Pfisterer and sophomores Christian Wright and Alexander Caba earned No. 9 all-time in the 4x400 relay with a final time of 3:19.44, capturing fourth place.
The Maroon and White will begin their outdoor season on Mar. 21-22 at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge hosted by High Point University.
