ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Lafayette track and field team competed in the first day of the 2023 Patriot League Men's and Women's Indoor Championships at the Naval Academy on Saturday afternoon.
In the preliminary events, freshman Maeve Waldron managed a 19th-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.30. In the 800-meter run, senior Nina Koobatian also finished 19th, posting a time of 2:24.93. Freshman Ashleigh Lustgarten placed 16th in the mile run (5:15.63) and classmate Kira Marr took home 18th (5.24.40). Sophomore Casey MacElhiney ended up in 19th place with a time of 5.32.93. In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Angel Awono finished in 15th place with a time of 9.56.
In the finals, senior Becky Hartman earned a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, clocking a time of 17:11.28. Hartman moves into fourth place all-time at Lafayette for the 5,000-meter run. Junior Emma Lorey took home 18th (18:12.66) and senior Dannah Javens finished in 19th (18:12.92) in the same event. Sophomore Julia Greeley set another personal best with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 12" 1.5'. In the long jump, junior Juliette Delmotte moved into second place all-time, taking home 14th place (17" 6.75). Senior Grace O'Mara finished 10th in the weight throw with a throw of 48" 7.25' ahead of sophomore Erin O'Leary (14th with 45" 1.5').
In the men's preliminary events, freshman Roman Conca took home 10th place in the 60-meter dash (7.06) ahead of senior Aidan Tai in 14th-place (7.15). Conca also earned a 13th-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking 22.47. Junior Elias Podber placed 19th in the one-mile run (4.24.32). Classmate Sean Hamilton took home 20th (4.24.65) and freshman Cole Chukoskie finished in 21st (4:25.53).
In the finals, sophomore Jack Lynett managed a ninth-place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 14" 11'. Senior Andrew Swiniarski earned an eighth-place finish in the weight throw (56" 10.75').
The Maroon and White will close out the Patriot League Indoor Championships on Sunday afternoon.
