HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Lafayette track and field team kicked off the outdoor season this weekend for the Bob Davidson Memorial Invite hosted by High Point University.
On Friday, sophomore Erin O'Leary managed an 11th-place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 152' 9". Junior Liz Desmet finished behind her in 25th (134' 9") and senior Solape Fakorede took home 29th (124' 5"). Freshman Isabella Allen finished 10th in group B of the women's pole vault, vaulting 9' .25".
Senior Andrew Bowsher earned an eighth-place finish in the men's hammer throw (173' 0') with classmate Andrew Swiniarski finishing just behind him in ninth place (172' 2"). Freshman Benjamin Hill placed ninth in the group B men's pole vault with a vault of 12' 10.25". Classmate Robert McCloskey wrapped up Friday afternoon's events with a seventh-place finish in the javelin (178' 10").
On Saturday afternoon, senior Caity McTernan took home ninth place in the javelin, reaching the mark of 118' 9" and junior Rylee Bordwick finished in 12th (99' 1"). In the shot put, senior Grace O'Mara managed a 12th-place finish (38' 9.75") and classmate Fakorede placed 18th (35' 10"). Fakorede also earned a seventh-place finish in the discus with a mark of 123' 11". In the elite pole vault, sophomore Julia Greeley secured a fifth-place finish after a vault of 11' 5.75".
Freshman Elena Malone finished seventh in the 400-meter run (58.53) with classmate Maeve Waldron taking home 10th (1:00.02). Junior Julia Delmotte finished fifth in the triple jump (36' 2") and senior Claire Fedor placed eighth (34' 6.25").
Freshman Roman Conca managed an 11th-place finish in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 10.93. Senior Aidan Tai finished behind him in 15th place with a time of 10.98. Conca also placed 18th in the 200-meter dash (22.94) and Tai finished right after him in 19th place (22.97). In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Zach Barban earned a sixth-place finish, posting a time of 1:00.84.
The Maroon and White will return to action to host the Leopard Invite on March 25 at Metzgar Fields.
