LEWISBURG, Pa. – The men's and women's teams took home second and third at the Bucknell Team Challenge at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Leopards enjoyed three event victories and a Lafayette all-time top 10 performance.
In the field for the men, senior Jack Lynett captured the victory in the pole vault with a 15' 5.75" effort. Junior Benjamin Hill enjoyed a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, vaulting 14' 6". Freshman J.T. Cook leaped 22' 1.75" in the long jump for fifth place.
Junior Robert McClosky snagged second in the javelin with a 183' 10" throw, followed by sophomore Niko Williams in fifth (164' 2"). Freshman Javin Petry achieved fifth in the hammer throw with a 171' 8" effort.Â
Throwing for the women, senior Erin O'Leary took home the victory in the hammer throw with an effort of 174' 1". Freshman Kristin DeBolt secured third in the discus throw (135' 5").
Freshman Leah Rudolph jumped 17' 8" for fifth in the long jump.
The men's and women's runners collected several top-five finishes. In the men's sprints, sophomore Alexander Caba reeled in second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.66 while freshman Kaseme Leckie finished close behind in fourth (21.97). Junior Roman Conca enjoyed a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 50.00.Â
Junior Zachary Barban ran 56.56 in the 400-meter hurdles for fifth. Sophomore John Liedtka garnered fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.64), tying for No. 4 all-time at Lafayette. Caba earned fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.90.
In the middle distance events, junior Titan Casey snagged second in the 800 meters with a final time of 1:53.50. Senior A.J. Sanford placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.13. Sanford also enjoyed fourth place in the 1500 meters (3:59.60). Freshman Colin Strachman ran 9:26.73 in the 3000 meters, earning second. Senior Emil Arangala finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:45.00).
Running long distance, freshman David Whitford and junior Francis Dougherty took home second (16:20.36) and third (16:26.95) in the 5000 meters, respectively.
In the women's sprints, junior Maeve Waldron garnered third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.60 with freshman Lily Jenkins close behind in fourth (25.68). Senior Angel Awono finished in 15.11 in the 100-meter hurdles for fourth place.
Running middle distance, junior Carolina McCloskey reeled in second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a final time of 11:57.37. Freshman Alivia Bear ran 11:09.65 in the 3000 meters for fourth. Senior Chelsey Cochrane enjoyed a fifth-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:46.23).
In the long distance events, sophomore Bridget Shaver left victorious in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:31.36. Junior Kira Marr and freshman Anya Kazemi achieved third (18:48.63) and fourth (19:02.76) in the 5000 meters, respectively.
A select few athletes will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for Penn Relays on Apr. 24-26 while the team competes at the Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh on Apr. 25-26.
