Track and Field Enjoys Strong Weekend Performances

Leopards competed in Wesley Brown Invitational and Moravian Invite

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette track and field team participated in the two-day Wesley Brown Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Navy, and in the Moravian Invite on Saturday. 

At the Wesley Brown Invitational, junior Liam Sawian secured second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,864 points. Sawian's score is No. 2 all-time at Lafayette and his time of 8.53 in the 60-meter hurdles earned him No. 8 all-time. Sophomore Abbey Nichols finished seventh in the pentathlon with 2,754 points.

At the Moravian Invite, freshman Kaseme Leckie captured the victory in the 60 meters with a final time of 6.98, tying for No. 9 all-time at Lafayette. Classmate Cole Scattergood managed seventh in the mile with a time of 4:36.05.

In field events, freshman J.T. Cook snagged first in the long jump, leaping 21' 7.25", while senior Quinn Curtin earned third in the triple jump (43' 2.25"). Senior Jack Lynett garnered the win in the pole vault with a 14' 11" effort, followed by freshman Jack Larson in second, vaulting 14' 5.25".

Junior Benjamin Hill and sophomore Elliott Godin took home fourth (14' 5.25") and sixth (13' 11.25") in the pole vault, respectively.

Sophomore Ivan Tejada enjoyed a first-place finish in the shot put with 46' 10" as well as a victory in the weight throw (50' 1.75"). Classmate Niko Williams ended in third in the shot put with a 45' 1" performance. Freshman Adrian Pirog and sophomore Jack Paradis reeled in sixth (43' 0.25") and seventh (42' 8.25") in the shot put.

Sophomore Jared Googel secured fifth in the weight throw, throwing 45' 2.5". Junior Liam Downey reeled in eighth in the shot put (41' 5.75") and ninth in the weight throw (42' 1.25").

In the field for the women, senior Julia Greeley left victorious in the pole vault, vaulting 12' 4.75". Sophomore Bridget O'Mara placed third in the pole vault (10' 5.25") and junior Isabella Allen collected eighth (10' 5.25"). 

Freshman Anaya Brown finished seventh in the triple jump with 33' 3.25". Freshman Leah Rudolph achieved sixth in the long jump (15' 11.75"), while sophomore Katherine Crotty and freshman Hayden Mark took home eighth (15' 9.5") and ninth (15' 7") in the long jump, respectively.

Sophomore Cheyla Williams earned ninth in the shot put with a 35' 1.25" effort. Senior Erin O'Leary secured second in the weight throw, throwing 49' 0.25", while junior Zoe Krumwiede threw 43' 0.25" in the weight throw for 10th.

On the track, junior Carolina McCloskey garnered second in the mile with a final time of 5:18.74. Freshmen Alivia Bear and Eleni Smith collected eighth (2:35.73) and 10th (2:39.48) in the 800 meters.

The Maroon and White return to action on Jan. 24 for day one of the Dr. Sander Scorcher at NYC Armory.
