Women’s 4x100m Relay Breaks School Record vs. Lehigh

Leopards secure six top-10 performances

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette track and field team hosted the second Lehigh Dual of the season at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex on Saturday, where the women's 4x100-meter relay broke the Lafayette school record from 2016 by 0.15 seconds.

Running for the women, sophomore Ava Severino captured No. 6 all-time at Lafayette in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:17.34, finishing second. Junior Elizabeth Borah enjoyed a second-place finish in the 5000 meters with a final time of 17:25.85, earning No. 10 all-time. Junior Alexa LaSasso earned second in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:12.05 and garnering No. 3 all-time.

Senior Angel Awono snagged the victory in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.76. Sophomore Abbey Nichols secured second in the 100 and 400-meter hurdling events (15.87, 1:09.24). Classmate Gabby Buber and freshman Lily Jenkins placed second and third in the 100 (12.94) and 200 meters (26.67), respectively.

The team of Jenkins, sophomore Ida Moczerniuk, Buber and junior Maeve Waldron broke the school record in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.24, earning first.

For the men, sophomore Christian Wright collected first in the 200 meters with a time of 22.70. Wright also enjoyed a second-place finish in the 100 meters (11.30). Junior Quinn Worrell earned first in the 1500 meters (4:21.59) and second in the 800 meters (1:53.83). Sophomore Alexander Caba achieved first in the 400 meters with a time of 49.68 as well as third in the 200 meters (22.95).

Junior Roman Conca took home second in the 400 meters, finishing in 49.73. Junior Zachary Barban and sophomore John Liedtka garnered second (56.13) and third (56.36) in the 400-meter hurdles, respectively. Senior Emil Arangala ran 9:40.03 in the 3000-meter steeplechase, earning second. Junior Cole Chukoskie collected third in the 5000 meters (15:27.03) and freshman Alec Miner reeled in third in the 800 meters (1:54.36). Junior Liam Sawian and freshman Kaseme Leckie each snagged third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.67) and 100 meters (11.35).

The team of sophomore Harrison Rosen, Caba, Wright and Leckie left victorious in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 41.10, securing No. 5 all-time. 

Barban, junior J.P. Pfisterer, Miner and junior Titan Casey reeled in first place in the 4x400-meter relay with a final time of 3:22.37.

In the field for the women, senior Erin O'Leary took home the victory in hammer throw with a 172' throw. Sophomores Maddie Still and Marin Rosser enjoyed second (117' 11") and third (115' 2") in javelin, respectively. Junior Zoe Krumwiede threw 142' 8" in hammer throw for third while freshman Kristin DeBolt earned third in discus throw (134') and shot put (36' 5.5").

Sophomore Bridget O'Mara achieved third in pole vault with a 10' 10" effort.

On the men's side, sophomore Ivan Tejada snagged second in shot put with a 50' 2" put, earning No. 10 all-time. Tejada also collected third in discus throw with a 129' 9" effort. Sophomore Jared Googel and freshman Javin Petry garnered second (165' 4") and third (157' 7") in hammer throw. Junior Robert McClosky hit 174' 11" in javelin, finishing third.

Senior Jack Lynett tied for No. 4 all-time in pole vault with a 15' 9" vault, earning first, followed by junior Benjamin Hill in second (14' 9"). Senior Quinn Curtin and freshman J.T. Cook reeled in second and third in triple jump (44' 3.25") and long jump (21'), respectively.

The Mountain Hawks topped the Leopards 114-89 (men) and 128-75 (women).

The Maroon and White will resume competition on April 12-13 at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
