BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lafayette track and field teams competed in the first Lehigh dual meet of the season at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks topped the Leopards 91-89 (men) and 102-79 (women).
Running for the women, sophomore Ida Moczerniuk broke the school record in the 60-meter dash, a record she set earlier in the season, with a time of 7.48, capturing the victory. Moczerniuk also earned first place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.94. Senior Nava Chevan snagged the win in the 500 meters with a time of 1:14.61, securing No. 3 all-time at Lafayette and a new personal best.
Junior Alexa LaSasso reeled in first place in the 800 meters (2:13.74) followed by classmate Katherine Pappas in third (2:17.05). Junior Elizabeth Borah and senior Chelsey Cochrane secured first and third in the 3000 meters (10:04.82) and 1000 meters (3:04.21), respectively.
Senior Angel Awono garnered second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26) while freshman Iyun Franklin-Ayeni followed in third (9.48). Junior Maeve Waldron earned second and third in the 400 meters (58.84) and 200 meters (26.04). Classmate Elena Malone secured third in the 500 meters (1:17.64) while senior Casey MacElhiney placed third in the mile (5:13.01).
The team of sophomore Gabby Buber, Malone, Pappas and LaSasso enjoyed a victory in the 4x400 relay with a final time of 4:00.74.
In the field events, senior Julia Greeley collected a win in the pole vault with an 11' 5.75" effort. Sophomore Bridget O'Mara followed in second in the pole vault with a 11' 5.75", tying for No. 4 all-time, while junior Isabella Allen finished in third (10' 11.75"). Freshman Leah Rudolph achieved a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping 17' 6.25". Junior Zoe Krumwiede threw 45' 11.75" in the weight throw, finishing third.
Running for the men, freshman Kaseme Leckie captured first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90, tying for No. 4 all-time and equaling his personal best. Sophomore John Liedtka enjoyed a victory in the 60-meter hurdles, earning No. 3 all-time with a time of 8.26. Classmate Alexander Caba reeled in first in the 400 meters (50.88) while junior Zachary Barban finished first in the 500 meters (1:07.45).
Freshman Alec Miner achieved first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.54 and junior Quinn Worrell secured the win in the 1000 meters (2:31.58). Senior Emil Arangala and junior Justin Brown collected first and second place in the 3000 meters with times of 8:34.79 and 8:35.48, respectively. Junior Cole Chukoskie placed second in the mile (4:25.95) and sophomore Christian Wright ended in second in the 200 meters (23.11). Junior Roman Conca snagged second and third in the 400 meters (51.10) and 200 meters (23.51).
The team of Wright, sophomore Ilios Millett, senior Ryan Moore and Conca left victorious in the 4x400 relay with a final time of 3:28.01.
Junior Titan Casey, senior A.J. Sanford, Miner and Worrell ran 7:58.58 in the 4x800-meter relay, earning first place.
In the field events, senior Jack Lynett secured first in the pole vault with a 15' 5" effort, tying for No. 4 all-time. Junior Benjamin Hill and freshman Jack Larson finished second (14' 11") and third (14' 11") in the pole vault, respectively. Senior Quinn Curtin jumped 44' 4" in the triple jump, collecting second while Leckie placed third in the high jump (6' 1.5").
Sophomore Ivan Tejada threw 51' 5.75" in the weight throw for second and classmate Niko Williams took home third in the shot put after putting 50' 6".
The Maroon and White will participate in the Fast Track Invite at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Feb. 7 at 12 p.m.
