Carrie Strong '99 was an outstanding multi-event performer in track and field, finishing as a five-time Patriot League champion. She won the pentathlon and 400 hurdles in 1999, the high jump in 1998 at the Patriot League outdoor championships and the high jump in 1998 and 1999 at the indoor meet. She was named the Most Outstanding Athlete at the 1999 Patriot League Indoor Championships.
Strong was the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Champ, capturing the heptathlon title in 1998 while finishing second in the 1999 event. Just two years after her graduation, Strong was selected to the Patriot League All-Decade Team. The 1999 Charles L. Albert Award winner, Strong still holds Lafayette outdoor records in the heptathlon, indoor high jump and outdoor high jump while ranking in the top 10 in the 400m hurdles, javelin, 100m hurdles, and 800m. She also holds the Lafayette indoor record in high jump and ranks in the top 10 in the indoor pentathlon, 500m and 55m hurdles.
