Tim Gerhart '80 spent four years at Lafayette wreaking havoc on opposing football teams. He started his Leopard career playing strong safety and earned the team's Rookie of the Year award before switching to defensive end. In Gerhart's first season up front, he led the team with 77 tackles. Earning Associated Press All-America honors his final three seasons, Gerhart was on the honorable mention list as a sophomore and the second team his junior year. Gerhart was a team captain in his senior year and earned second-team All-America honors for the second time. He tallied 313 total tackles, 11 quarterback sacks, two interceptions and six fumble recoveries during his Leopard career. After graduation, Gerhart signed a free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos.
